4-10-16 SCRIPTURE REFLECTION
Read
John 8:31-32
John 7
John 8
Free Indeed
In this chapter, a woman caught in adultery is a great example of Jesus’ important message that follows. The Jewish leaders were ready to stone her, but Jesus saved her. He didn’t condemn her. Jesus told her to leave her life of sin. Later in the chapter, He taught others to do the same. Jesus is the one who sets us free from sin as we trust Him and obey His teaching.
Reflection:
Jesus has set you free from all guilt, shame, and the punishment your sins deserved. Receive this free gift today and walk in His freedom.

What stood out to me in these verses was how Christ had so much compassion for the sinner. He never "pulled any punches" and straight out told others that the devil was their father etc. so when he tells the woman that he doesnt condemn her but to sin no more, it sticks out. Powerful.

Jesus could have drilled that woman into the ground but he didn't. He saved her life and let her go even though she was guilty. All the more impressive since he drills others so bad they want to kill him.

“You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father [...] he is a liar and the father of lies. But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me.” John 8:44-45 NASB
This stuck out to me because hasn't Jesus spoken truth into my life to bring freedom? And yet, somehow I often find myself in that state of entropy like Dr. Misler talked about. My thought patterns want to revert to the lies and chaos and I wonder if Jesus is shaking His head thinking, "C'mon baby girl, remember the truth I told you?" I don't want to settle for slavery. I want to live like a liberated daughter of the King.

Boldness. Thats what i see from Jesus. He was never afraid to speak and share His teaching with the people even though there were all kinds of religious leaders waiting for Him to incriminate himself. I need more of that in my walk. The confidence and boldness to share God's word.
